Federal Express Corporation Staff Vice President Corporate Controller in Collierville, Tennessee

This position provides leadership and oversight of financial reporting and key accounting matters for FedEx Corporation, including the preparation of the consolidated financial statements in compliance with SEC rules and US GAAP, and the accounting for merger and acquisitions, legal entity restructurings and critical accounting estimates. This position also provides oversight of financial compliance matters, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), controls and reporting related to ESG and CSRD requirements, and is responsible for the overall administration of the FedEx retirement benefit programs. In addition, the Corporate Controller provides frequent updates to the Audit and Finance Committee of the FedEx Board of Directors on accounting, reporting and internal control matters.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

This position requires a bachelor’s degree/equivalent. Master's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or other quantitative discipline is preferred. Designation of Certified Public Accountant is required. This position requires extensive background in accounting and financial reporting, including in-depth knowledge of SEC reporting requirements and accounting for judgmental and complex transactions. The ideal candidate is fast-paced, highly analytical and detail-oriented who has experience in working in a large multi-national corporate environment. Must have demonstrated ability to effectively lead, develop and evaluate a large global work group.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Builds a high performing organization by modeling PSP culture, QDM, and a commitment to coaching for individual performance and growth.

  • Establishes a clear vision for the organization with respect to strategy, mission, and organizational effectiveness and ensures alignment across director and business organizations.

  • Manage large global organization comprised of individuals in multiple locations.

  • Ensures all organizational activities are completed to the highest ethical and professional standards.

  • Builds effective relationships internally and externally, in order to achieve optimal outcomes.

  • Deliver strategic planning, innovative business solutions, and thought leadership.

  • Leads the Corporate Financial Reporting and Corporate Financial Compliance functions.

  • Leads the Retirement Services organization and accounting organization responsible for critical accounting estimates, including healthcare, self-insurance, and pension.

  • Domestic and international travel is required.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree/equivalent. CPA with extensive experience in SEC accounting and reporting.

Minimum Experience

Ten (10) years experience in SEC accounting and reporting or related professional and supervisory experience, which includes five (5) years in a management/leadership position.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting standards. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data. Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record keeping. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Effective communication skills to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders

Problem-solving skills to identify issues and recommend solutions.
